Introduction to the IDKA Website
Please click on the blue area above to see the menu.
Welcome to the website for the Ipswich & District Kidney Association (IDKA).
IDKA is a UK registered charity set up for people, within the Ipswich Hospital's reach, whose lives are somehow affected by kidney disease.
Here, at IDKA, we aim to relieve the emotional & financial hardship experienced by people whose lives are affected by kidney problems.
IDKA has provided much of the electronic entertainment media within the Renal unit at Ipswich Hospital. Each dialysis station has a flat screen, Free-view, colour television and there are a number of personal DVD players with a selection of both DVDs and CDs. They also host social events such as the Hog Roast and music event at the AGM held in July this year. They can also make grants to individuals who are suffering hardship as a direct result of kidney failure. You can read more about IDKA in the three subsections under the IDKA button at the top.
There are details about NKF (National Kidney Federation) as well as links to other useful organisation's which we wish to draw your attention to, such as Suffolk Family Carers & Freedom Dialysis Holiday Specialist (that are nothing to do with IDKA itself) plus weblinks to the two Renal Units in Ipswich and Aldeburgh. They are all under the
Useful Organisations main button as sub menus. We want to be able to inform you about what assistance there is out there so if you can suggest any others that are geared toward our members' requirements then please let us know via website@idka.org.uk so that we can keep adding to the page.
Unsure as to what you can actually eat without becoming overloaded with fluid, potassium or phosphates? Have a read of the pages submitted by Lisa Chapman (Renal Dietician, Ipswich Hospital) under the Renal Diet tab.
Watch out for any Fundraising Events being posted under this tab at the top.
Want to get in touch with us? Look at the IDKA Contact button. You will find a feedback form and links to our Facebook and Twitter pages too.
If you have received a copy of the new IDKA magazine but would like one via email or would like a copy anyway please click on the IDKA Magazine Download Button below to receive your free download. If you would like to submit a story, article, holiday experience or just something silly etc. for this website's sister Magazine, please email: magazine@idka.org.uk
