KIDNEYLIFE

Following the distribution of the spring edition of Kidney Life 144 copies of the magazine were returned to NKF through the post.  This was because the recipient no longer lived at the address we had on our database.

KPAs can help by informing us of any changes to their members lists, and by asking their members to inform HQ if they have a change of address.

Please send updates to Linda Fores by the 1st of each month Linda@Kidney.org.uk or call 01909 544999

NKF Advocacy Vacancy

This vacancy has now closed, and interviews have taken place earlier this week. We will let you know who the new North West Advocacy Officer is in the next edition.

Nick Palmer – Head of NKF Advocacy went to a special screening of We are Family on Tuesday 1st July – an inspirational film highlighted on page 8 of Kidney Life.

The film is 34 minutes long and encapsulates perfectly the fears, challenges and dynamics of a family coming to terms with a diagnosis of kidney failure. Focusing on an African Caribbean

family the story has obvious wider appeal to the whole kidney community - it is dedicated to raising awareness of CKD, dialysis, donation and transplantation.

Dela Idowu who wrote and produced the film has a mission ‘to get We are Family in every home and family where someone is living with kidney failure’.

If you would like a copy of the DVD they can be purchased at www.wearefamilyfilm.co.uk at a cost of £7.99 each.

Postponement of the Dialysis Games 2014

The Dialysis Games committee wish to announce the postponement of the Dialysis Games 2014 scheduled to take place on 21st September 2014 at the University of York.

At present insufficient financial resources are available in order to properly stage the Games we are aspiring to and this, together with the need for additional time to ensure robustness of event plans, has lead to the decision to postpone until summer 2015.  The organisers hope this will not cause undue inconvenience and disappointment to those who planned to participate in the Games and to offer support to the event.

A new schedule of fundraising events and news on the Games 2015 will be planned and published on our website – for details please see www.dialysisgames.co.uk

We hope to see you all at the Dialysis Games 2015.
